EuroHPC Federation Platform — first release April 2026; AI Factories program operational

§10.32026-05-032 out · 0 in

The European High Performance Computing Joint Undertaking's EuroHPC Federation Platform development began January 2025 under CSC–IT Center for Science leadership, with first release on April 15, 2026 providing a unified single access point to EuroHPC JU systems with federated authentication and authorization. The companion AI Factories program operates around EuroHPC supercomputing facilities to support European AI ecosystem development, with 19 AI Factories and 13 Antennas operational across the EU as of late 2025.

For C-0039: EuroHPC's combination of federated platform access and AI Factories network is a continent-scale demonstration of what coordinated AI/data infrastructure looks like when the governance and funding model is aligned with the technical architecture. The AI Factories provide computational and data-governance capabilities that competing U.S. R1 institutions, operating in fragmented Tier 0 / Tier 1 configurations, cannot match without coordinated federation.
