BioNTech Project Lightspeed launched January 27, 2020 using the genome. 2023 suspended individual researcher accounts after publications critical of the platform's origin narrative (Scripps group, Wuhan market origin team). 2025 terminated data feeds to Nextstrain, Outbreak.info, CoV-Spectrum. re3data subsequently reclassified the platform from open-access to restricted-access.
